Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a standardized test being administered since 1988 to facilitate Business Schools (B-Schools) to screen candidates for admission to various management institutes. Govt. of India, Ministry of HRD approved MAT as a national level test in 2003. Any B-School – national or international – can consider MAT Score as an admission input based on the Score Cards issued to the candidates. The largest test of its kind in the nation, MAT will continue to be your passport to over 600 B-Schools across India.

MAT Eligibility

The minimum qualification for applying in MAT exam is that the applicant must hold the graduation degree from recognized university or equivalent.

Final year graduates (i.e. B.A, B.Sc., B.Com, B.Tech., etc.) can also apply.

There are different percentage criteria for different universities.

There is no restriction of age bar, no percentage criteria for the applicants applying for the exam.

Pattern/ Format of MAT Entrance Exam

Total number of Questions: 200

Total Time allocated: 150 minutes

Marks allocation
Correct attempt: 1 mark
Incorrect attempt: Negative marking will be there for wrong answers.

Sections with Questions
MAT entrance exam covers five sections in all. Scores of first four sections compose the final scores. However, institutions might choose to consider the score of the General Awareness section.

MAT is conducted by All India Management Testing Service for entering into MBA or equivalent post graduate programs. The five sections mentioned above are basically comprised of the following five papers:

  • Paper 4 : Intelligence & Critical Reasoning

MAT 2017 Registration

  • MAT registration 2017 can be followed by both online and offline process.
  • The application form is available from 3rd March 2017.
  • After submission of the application form, the concerned team will do the verification process and the candidates would be provided an acknowledgement slip.
  • This acknowledgement slip ensures that the form is filled and verified correctly.
  • The online registration will be done till 28th April 2017.
  • In the case of offline application or payment through DD, candidates have to send the application form along with all documents required at AIMA, New Delhi before the due date.

Application Fee:

  • The application fee for all the candidates is Rs. 1400.
  • No concession of fee will be there for the reserved categories.
  • The fee can be paid through the following modes: Credit card/debit card, net banking, demand draft and through cash payment.

AIMS Test for Management Admissions (ATMA) is a national-level computer-based management entrance examination. It is conducted by the Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS). ATMA scores are used for admission in various management institutes at national level. One must have a good ATMA score to take admission in best management colleges.

In 2017, the exam will be held three times – February 12 (offline test), May 28 (online test ) and July 16 (online test).

ATMA aims to evaluate a candidate’s verbal reasoning, numerical reasoning, analyzing and synthesizing ability. The exam is maximum of 3 hours. The test consists of multiple-choice/ objective-type questions.

Candidates who wish to apply for the test needs to be graduate (in any discipline). Final year students can also apply for the exam.

“The scores of ATMA test are valid for Maharashtra institutional level MBA seats also, in addition to All-India level seats,” as per the official website of ATMA.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for AIMS Test for Management Admissions (ATMA) is mentioned below:

  • The applicants must have completed their graduation from a recognized University with at least 50% marks.
  • Final year students are also eligible to apply for the same.
  • Applicants must have completed 21 years to apply for the exams.

Paper Pattern

ATMA 2017 Pattern:-

The Test contains 180 Questions spread over six sections. Each section in Paper-based Test may be attempted in serial order. There is no such requirement for On-line Test. Total time of the Test is 3 hours. The questions cover Analytical Reasoning, Quantitative, and Verbal skills.

For each correct or best answer, you will get a score of one. For any question not answered, a zero score will be given. A negative score will be given for a wrong or incorrect answer. For each incorrect answer, 0.25 point will be deducted. Thus, for four incorrectly answered questions, one mark will be subtracted from the total score.
